Fresh Face Makeup Tutorial

For my day to day makeup look I love putting on just enough makeup to look fresh and glowing.  Putting on a little bit of makeup will make the face look more awake and alive.  This entire look takes about 10 minutes.  Always start with cleansing and moisturizing the skin.  It’s important to start with a good base.

Curl your eyelashes.  Give them a couple good squeezes.  This will open up the eyes and instantly make you look awake.  If I don’t have any time to do any makeup I always curl my eyelashes.  I use a MAC curler, but any one will work.

Prime the under eye area.  This Becca brightening primer is amazing, it has the technology of backlighting.  It basically gives a ‘glow from within’ look.  And it helps prevent concealer from creasing.  Using your ring finger apply from the inner corner to the outer corner of the under eye area.

Conceal.  I’m using Urban Decay concealer.  This is a lightweight concealer with full coverage.  I conceal under my eyes, eyelids and any where I have extra redness; typically between the brows and around the nose.

Foundation.  I’m using Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation with Sigma f80 Kabuki brush.  This gives an airbrushed, smooth look to the skin.  It is a full coverage foundation and gives a natural glowing finish.  Use circular motions and ‘buff’ the foundation with this brush.

Setting Powder.  I’m setting my under eye area and eyelid with MAC ’emphasize’ shaping powder.  Then I use MAC mineralize skinfinish powder to set the rest of my face.  Setting the face is not completely necessary, but I like to do it to make sure my foundation does not budge all day.

Bronze & Blush.  I just got this Hourglass ambient bronzer and I freaked out the first time I used it because it’s so amazing.  It seriously looks like I’ve been at the beach all day and I have a natural bronzed look.  Apply just below the cheek bones (in the hollows of the cheek), forehead, chin and nose.  A little goes a long way so just touch your brush in the bronzer.

I some how didn’t get a picture of the blush.  But I applied MAC ‘new romance’ to the apples of my cheeks.  This is the perfect peachy pink and gives a very natural look to the cheek.

Highlight.  Becca highlighter is the best ever!  Using both is not necessary. But I have both so I use both on most days.  My skin is very fair, ‘moonstone’ is very light and ‘opal’ can some times be a little to dark for my skin; so I like to mix them.  Apply to the high points of the cheek bones using Sigma f90 fan brush.  I also use this to highlight my eyes, I apply to my brow bone and the inner corner of my eyes.

Eyes.  I’ve already used the Becca highlighter to highlight my eyes.  Now I’m using Stila eyeshadow in ‘wheat’ just in the center of my eye lid.  This is going to draw light to the eyes and make them look glowing.  Any natural shadow will work for this.

Mascara.  I’m using Too Faced ‘better than sex’ mascara.  This mascara is amazing!  I apply several coats of mascara.

Brows.  I’m using Anastasia brow wiz in ‘soft brown’ just to fill in thin areas of my brows, I’m not shaping them, just filling them in.  Then I set the brows with Anastasia clear brow gel.  This is like super glue for the brows, nothing will move all day long!

Lips.  My favorite spring lipstick is Dior ‘Princess’.  It’s the perfect shade and has a beautiful glow to it.  Dior lipsticks are so creamy, it’s almost like mixing a lipstick and lipgloss.
