Whatever your skin history is, most of us have issues on our face that we aren’t happy with… acne scarring, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, texture, fine lines and wrinkles. We all have something we want fixed.
Maybe you suffered with acne that has now cleared up but has left scarring. Or you didn’t use sunscreen and now you have sun spots or hyperpigmentation. Or that zit that has left a brown spot on your face for several weeks or months. Or maybe you have texture that just won’t go away no matter how much you exfoliate. And of course, we all want to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles!
I discovered Cane & Austin products about 2 years ago and never looked back. I still think they have the best at home results from any product I have seen.
Why these work: It’s all about the glycolic acid!! Glycolic acid improves skin texture and appearance. It stimulates collagen production and elastin fibers, reducing acne scarring, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
They recently came out with pads with a stronger % of glycolic acid, Miracle Pads+. I used these on my husband on his acne scarring. His scarring isn’t extreme, he has a small amount on parts of his cheeks and chin. Within 2 weeks of use (every other night) we both could see a difference. The skin looked smoother and overall better. The longer you use it the better results you will get. Getting him to routinely use them has been the tricky part!
Important to know about glycolic acid before using:
- Glycolic acid makes your skin sun sensitive. Make sure to apply a sunscreen every time you go outside. I use mine only at night then wash my face in the morning so I never go outside with glycolic acid on my skin (I don’t want the sun intensified on my skin). I do recommend a sunscreen no matter what when being outside.
- If you have sensitive skin use with caution. I have very sensitive skin so I use the lowest % and apply at night. Just in case my skin gets a little red I want to do it at night before bed.
- Slight redness and some tingling when using is normal, especially at first.
- Avoid your eyes.
How I use Cane & Austin:
I have been using Cane & Austin retexure pads for almost 2 years. When I first started I used them 2-3 times a week. After a few months I began using them once a week. If I’m having an issue I will use them more, but for maintenance I use them once a week.
At night, I cleanse first, then use a retexure pad, finish with their eye cream and moisturizer. This keeps my skin clear of texture and gives it a bright, smooth look.
*They discontinued their eye cream I started using 2 years ago. They have been developing a new and improve eye cream. It is due to come out later this month. I have already used it and love it!
3 different kinds of Pads:
Retexure Pads, 10% glycolic acid
Miracle Pads, 20% glycolic acid
Miracle Pads+, 30% glycolic acid
Which one to use? You need to analyze your skin and determine it’s needs. If you are looking for some texture and fine lines help, go with the retexure pads. If you have acne scarring and more extreme needs, go with the miracle pads+. If you are somewhere in between use the miracle pads. Also take into consideration how sensitive your skin is. The higher % of glycolic acid the more harsh it will be on your skin.

Omg!! Thank you for this post! It is exactly what I was looking for! I was waiting for your post since you announced you’d be talking about the product on Snapchat! I definitely try!
Love this post and I definitely want to try them out! The link is going to Sephora, but says the “page is no longer there”. :(
Hi Rachel, I’ve wanted to try these pads but they contain acetone.. :/ what is your opinion on this ingredient in skincare? x
Thank You soo much for this information. What facial cleanser do you use?
I am currently using the one from Tula.
I’ve been looking for a good dark spot treatment, thank you!!!
Can you use this if you are already using a perscription retinol cream?
I would first consult with your dermatologist. You are able to use glycolic and retinol together, but since your retinol cream is prescription I would check with your doctor to be safe.
Hi Olivia! Per Dr. Austin it is fine to use our peel pads and acne pads along with Retinol. Use the pads in the am and your retinol at night.
I was using those pads unfortunately my skin had a bad reaction and now i had a bunch of tiny lil pimples on my cheeks, they look pretty horrible. :-(
Jeannie = keep with it….the little breakout should go away soon. Are you using the Acne pad or Miracle +? The glycolic and salicylic bring breakouts to the surface to purge pores and then your skin will clear right up.
Eileen, thanks for responding. I was using the glycolic for a couple of months and nothing, i stopped using it. Currently looking for a way to get rid of these tiny pimples now.
Hi, do you know of any products similar to this? This brand isn’t available where I live… :(
Hi Rachel, can you use this if your pregnant??
I just started using tonight and I’m excited! I also ordered the Tula eye cream but haven’t got it yet.
